Step into the Shady side of Portland's past.  Where one could be abducted into slavery not always to return...

As you may of seen on the television.  Or maybe heard from your friends.  Portland has "tunnels".  These tunnels were built for the shipping industry for delivery of merchandise.  Stories have it that they were used to abduct people into slavery on ships.  A term called shanghaiing or crimping.  These controversial stories have a lot of truth to them.  Come see what you have heard about and hear the truth behind the stories.

During your tour we will show you some of the fragments of this system, and the different factors that surrounded it.  Our guides will tell you about the crooked officials, loose woman and give you a taste of Portland's active history.  Mixed with some of the beautifully aged reminents still thriving today.

Tours are approximately just under a mile, and take just under an hour.  We provide the flashlights and umbrellas in the event of Portland's infamous liquid sunshine.

Tours open in March 2010.
